Mind = Body = Mind = Body

Reminder: You are what you eat. Living life to your fullest potential includes fuelling your body well. The mind and body affect each other. We know that if we are sick, we feel a little grumpy or sad, if we are grumpy and sad, we don't always choose the healthiest options, we might feel like sitting on the couch eating chocolate and watching Sex and the City reruns. If we eat rubbish, we feel rubbish. And so the cycle begins.

If you're half-ass eating - you're going to be half-ass performing.

Your physical health, energy levels, your immune system, your mental health, your skin, how easily you get out of bed in the morning are all affected by what you eat. A Harvard study found that the risk of depression is lower when you eat more traditional foods compared to a western diet. They also found that eating well prevents fatigue and provides sustained energy throughout the day. Is there a perfect diet? Yes, and No...you probably know that you should eat your veggies, you probably also know that it depends on your body, your lifestyle and what your needs are. It's important to listen to your body and take the time to figure out what works for you and what doesn't.

Personally, I went from Vegetarian for a long time to Paleo for a number of years to Ayurvedic and for about the past 12 years I have been a mix of all three. I follow the 80/20(ish) rule, meaning when I occasionally go out to a restaurant, or to visit friends or family or when I'm on holiday (around 20%), I eat pretty much whatever, I have the truffle pasta, the pizza, dessert. Ain't no way I am giving up Fondant au chocolat, or Mousse while I am living in France! But the meals I cook at home (80%) are grain-free, packet free, sugar-free and mostly plant-based. I'm also a herbal remedy junkie. Hello tea, oils and weird potions. Even the poor dog has had honey and turmeric plastered on her. 🤷🏻‍♀️

We all know deep down that veggies, some fruit and natural, unprocessed foods are the way to go. You should absolutely try to include those into your diet as much as possible, your brain (and your business) will thank you.

Here are a couple of tips for truly connecting mind and body:

1. Eat for Energy & Clarity:

Start with real foods that balance blood sugar instead of spiking it. Think protein, healthy fats, and unprocessed complex carbs. This fuels steady energy and mental clarity throughout the day, so you stay focused on your goals.

2. Move with Intention:

Aim for at least 30 minutes of movement daily, whether it’s a workout, yoga, or a walk. Physical activity not only strengthens your body but releases endorphins, boosting your mood and reducing stress.

3. Practice Mindful Eating:

Slow down and really experience your meals. Chew thoroughly, notice flavours, and take breaks. This helps your brain register fullness, aids digestion, and brings a moment of mindfulness into your day.

4. Cultivate a Strong Mindset with Meditation:

Taking even five minutes a day to meditate or practice mindfulness can significantly lower stress and improve mental resilience. It doesn’t just impact your thoughts—it directly affects your body by lowering blood pressure, reducing muscle tension, and improving immune function. When your mind is at ease, your body follows suit, creating a positive cycle of wellbeing.

These small changes can build a strong foundation for mental resilience and physical strength.

Nurturing your mind and body isn’t just a “nice to have”—it’s essential if you want to show up fully for your life, your goals, and your dreams. Small choices like the food you eat, how you move, and the time you set aside for meaningful work each day may seem simple, but their impact is profound.

It’s all connected: a healthy body fuels a healthy mind, and a balanced mind gives your body the support it needs to thrive. So, listen to what your body is telling you, feed it well, move with purpose, and take a little time to centre your thoughts.

Your best self is within reach…one intentional choice at a time.
